Caretaker Minister of Information, Ziad Makary, said that the consultative meeting held at the Grand Serail aimed at following up on the current situation.
In a statement from the Grand Serail, Makary explained that the meeting touched on the situation in the south and the necessity of ending the Israeli attacks on south Lebanon and Gaza, in addition to a recommendation to the Council of Ministers to form a committee that shall survey the damages and submit proposals to fund reconstruction.
Makary said that “the PM and the attendees stressed the importance of protecting civil peace in these critical circumstances, praising the role assumed by the security authorities in preserving security and uncovering crimes in a speedy and professional fashion.”
Pertaining to the Syrian displaced, Makary said that the meeting reiterated the obligation to enforce the Lebanese laws on everybody. It has been decided to instruct district governors to shut down the illegal institutions and abide by all the decisions and circulars issued by the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities.
Furthermore, Makary indicated that the means to ensure food and fuel supplies for a minimal period of three months have been discussed.
In response to a reporter’s question, Makary revealed that the Council of Ministers will convene on April 26.
