Caretaker Information Minister Ziad Makary said in the wake of the cabinet session: “The extension of Central Bank Governor Riad Salameh’s mandate has not been raised in today’s cabinet session, yet the governor’s deputies have asked for cover to provide government lending and secure salaries.”
However, Makary noted that ministers have capitalized on the need to appoint a new Central Bank Governor as soon as possible.
“The state budget has not been discussed at length, but there will be successive meetings on the budget, proposals, and observations by ministers,” Makary concluded.
