Caretaker Minister of Information, Ziad Makary, revealed that Paris does not mind the election of Marada Movement Leader, Sleiman Frangieh, as president of the republic, adding that the French “are the most informed of the Lebanese file.”
“Frangieh is the strongest presidential candidate,” the Minister told an interview with Télé Liban.
Moreover, he accused MP Gebran Bassil of impeding the president election process due to this position on Frangieh. “Bassil cannot play the obstruction game amid a deadly economic crisis,” he said. He also revealed that foreign pressures will be exerted on Lebanon should a president be not elected before the end of the year.
Touching on the ties with Riyadh, Makary said “it is a delusion to think that the relation between Frangieh and Saudi Arabia is bad.”
On a different note, he revealed that he received yesterday a correspondence form the Financial Prosecutor, Judge Ali Ibrahim, regarding the broadcast of the 2018 world cup.
