Abdel Samad Upholds Right To Information Act, Plans Media Advertising Campaign With Mukhaiber And UNDP

Caretaker Minister of Information, Manal Abdel Samad, held a meeting via Zoom with former MP Ghassan Mukhaibar, Director of Programs at Tele Liban, Hassan Shakour, and a work group from the UNDP, the Ministry of Information and Tele Liban, to discuss the plan for media advertisement developed by the Ministry of Information on the Right to Information Law 28/2017, which it will implement in cooperation with the aforementioned parties.

The meeting touched on the outlines of the plan, and a date was agreed upon next week to delve into the details.

The plan includes an awareness campaign for citizens about their right to access information with official bodies and departments, the kind of information they can request and the way to request them, in order to rebuild their confidence in the state.

The campaign will highlight the data and information that departments and ministries are bound to publish in the official gazette and on their websites.

The Minister of Information had previously adopted the Right to Information Law in view of its importance in enhancing state transparency.
