Minister of Information, Dr. Manal Abdel Samad Najd, said in the wake of her visit this Thursday to the Press Syndicate that “the relationship with the Union is fundamental in organizing the media sector.”
Minister Abdel Samad visited this afternoon the Press Syndicate, where she met with Syndicate Dean, Aouni al-Kaaki, and members of the Syndicate’s Council.
The meeting broached the current media situation and related affairs.
Minister Abdel Samad stressed the importance of modernizing the media law in light of the current developments, indicating that the development of this law is essential.
Abdel Samad underlined the necessity to advance the media sector and create job opportunities that would regain the role of the Lebanese media as a longstanding beacon.
Dean al-Kaaki, for his part, wished the Minister success in her mission for the welfare of the press sector. He stressed that the print press shall never vanish despite all obstacles and challenges.
He also called on the Minister to work on organizing the electronic websites sector, presenting her with a memorandum in this regard. Al-Kaaki emphasized the great role that can be played by the Minister in this domain.
