The Lebanese Association for Democratic Elections (Lade), disclosed in its first report about the parliamentary elections 2018, that “competition has increased among candidates, accompanied by laxity in the application of the law according with the principle of neutrality “.
The 1,300 observers at polling stations registered several irregularities:
– A flagrant non respect of the period of electoral silence, starting with the President of the Republic who announced his vote in favor of the list of mandate, as well as candidates and the media.
– lack of election materials in a number of polling station, whereby LADE blames the presidents of the polling centers for it.
– transgression of Article 95 (secrecy of the vote) and Article 96 (vote of persons with special needs) where almost all polling stations are not sufficiently equipped to facilitate their voting process.
– Registration of some cases of violence, such as an assault against “Kulna Watani” electoral list candidate in Bint Jbeil, as well as additional incidents in Jbeil and Zahle.
