Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Ghassan Hasbani Monday visited the American University of Beirut Medical Center, where he met a 5-year-old boy who had undergone groundbreaking heart transplant surgery. The boy underwent a pediatric heart transplant – the first successful operation of its kind in Lebanon – on June 14. Hasbani met with the boy and his family, and congratulated the medical team that conducted the operation. “This type of operation proves that Lebanon is a major center of [medical care] in the Middle East,” Hasbani said.
